Roddy Piper’s legacy is under serious scrutiny after a new documentary on Luna Vachon included an accusation that the WWE Hall of Famer sexually assaulted her when she was a young teenager.
The claim, revealed during the premiere of Lunatic: The Luna Vachon Story at Fantastic Fest, immediately jolted the audience and is now sparking deep conversations about wrestling’s dark past.
Wrestling content creator Tyler Williams, who attended the screening, posted a video to Instagram recounting what he heard in the film. The allegation was brief but unmistakable — a voice in the documentary claimed that Piper assaulted Vachon when she was just 12 or 13 years old.
“I was floored, and I think everyone in the theater was floored when they heard this. And it was very brief. It wasn’t really touched upon much longer than the time I took to really tell you that.”
Williams wasn’t sure if the audio came from Vachon herself or from someone relaying her story, but the accusation hit hard either way.
“I want to be as correct about this as possible. I don’t recall if it was Luna Vachon’s voice herself saying this or if it was someone else voicing it for her… but the voice basically echoed that Rowdy Roddy Piper [assaulted] Luna Vachon between the ages of 12 and 13 years old.”
The film tied the moment into a broader conversation about how unsafe the wrestling world was for women at the time. According to Williams, the segment touched on how little protection female performers had backstage.
“Part of that whole discourse was about how, you know, many boys in the back at that time, you know, they couldn’t be trusted. You know, the women in the locker room were treated like garbage. You just couldn’t trust people in the industry. And it was just very disheartening to hear about this.”
Williams also spoke to the film’s director after the screening. She admitted she wasn’t sure if the claim should be included, but ultimately decided it was an essential part of Vachon’s story.
“The director I spoke to afterwards… she wasn’t entirely sure if she wanted to put this in… but ultimately she came to the conclusion that if Luna Vachon told this person and this person is putting that story out, then this is part of Luna Vachon’s story, and it is her duty to get her story out there.”
Roddy Piper died in 2015, and Luna Vachon passed away in 2010. Both were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame — Piper in 2005, and Vachon posthumously in 2019.
As of now, neither WWE nor representatives of Piper’s family have commented on the allegation. Ringside News will keep you updated if additional information becomes available.
