Ronnie O’Sullivan withdraws from British Open for medical reasons

by

Seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan has pulled out of the British Open because of “medical reasons”, says the World Snooker Tour.

The 49-year-old is missing this week’s English Open and has not played since losing 10-9 in the final of the Saudi Arabia Masters in August.

O’Sullivan was scheduled to play Sanderson Lam in the first round of the British Open, which takes place in Cheltenham from 22-28 September.

He posted a video on social media on Monday of him doing a workout.

A message with the video read: “Exercise is so important to me. Not just for the body, but for my mindset too.”

“He has been replaced in the draw by the highest available player from the 2025 Q School ranking list, Daniel Womersley,” said a WST statement., external
