Royal Dornoch Golf Club has unveiled its striking new £13.9 million clubhouse, a landmark development designed to match the global reputation of its celebrated Championship Course.
The luxurious three-storey building, overlooking the famous links, replaces a clubhouse that had served the club for 116 years.
Approved two years ago, the project marks one of the most significant investments in the club’s 148-year history and represents a major statement of intent for golf and tourism in the Highlands.

Blending contemporary comfort with traditional Highland character, the new clubhouse has been carefully designed to retain the intimacy and warmth of a proud local club while offering facilities befitting one of the world’s great golfing venues.
Extensive use of colour, textiles and furnishings reflects Royal Dornoch’s rich heritage, while exhibition spaces and a dramatic entrance hall showcase the club’s history and enduring legacy.
With panoramic views across the links, the clubhouse provides welcoming spaces for members, visitors and the wider community to gather for food, drink and conversation.
Club officials believe the setting will encourage people to linger longer and enjoy both the ambience and the scenery.
The building is also expected to play a key role in Dornoch’s year-round social life.
OFFICIAL OPENING IN SPRING 2026
Local organisations such as Rotary, Bridge and Speakers clubs will use the facilities, reinforcing the clubhouse’s role as a community hub as well as a golfing destination.
Construction of the clubhouse involved around 100 workers during its final stages, including a number of local sub-contractors.

The project ranks among the most substantial private sector investments in the area in recent years and underlines confidence in Dornoch’s future.
Designed by Keppie Design and built by Inverness-based contractors Morrison Construction, the clubhouse has exceeded expectations in both scale and finish.
Club management say it signals a new chapter for Royal Dornoch, complementing its world-renowned Championship Course and supporting future ambitions to further develop golf facilities in the town.
A formal opening ceremony is expected to take place in the spring, but the clubhouse is already being hailed as a fitting new home for one of Scotland’s most iconic golf clubs.
