South Africa register a comfortable win against Zimbabwe, defeating the hosts by seven wickets in the fourth T20I at the Harare Sports Club. Chasing a target of 145, the Proteas displayed a clinical performance with the bat, thanks to a match-winning partnership between Rubin Hermann and Rassie van der Dussen.

Zimbabwe post modest total despite Brian Bennett’s efforts

Zimbabwe opted to bat first after winning the toss and were off to a steady start. Youngster Brian Bennett played a mature knock under pressure, scoring a gritty 61 off 43 balls. His innings included five fours and two sixes, and he kept the scoreboard ticking despite losing partners at the other end. However, Zimbabwe couldn’t capitalize on the platform Bennett laid, managing only 144/6 in their 20 overs.

South Africa’s bowlers kept things tight, especially Corbin Bosch, who impressed with his disciplined spell of 2/16 in four overs. The rest of the attack chipped in with crucial breakthroughs, never allowing Zimbabwe to build any real momentum.

Rubin Hermann and Rassie van der Dussen steady the chase

In reply, South Africa looked in complete control throughout the chase. After the early loss of opener Matthew Breetzke, Van der Dussen and Hermann stitched together a vital partnership. Van der Dussen anchored the innings with a well-paced 52 off 41 deliveries, while Hermann took the aggressive route.

Hermann played with intent and flair, smashing 63 not out off just 36 balls, including seven fours and a six. His attacking approach ensured that South Africa maintained a healthy run rate and never allowed the required rate to climb. The Proteas wrapped up the chase in just 17.2 overs, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
