Veteran right-hander Ryne Stanek has agreed to a deal with the Cardinals, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand on Friday.
The club has not confirmed the agreement, which is pending a physical.
The 34-year-old flamethrower has a 3.85 ERA in 466 career appearances across nine seasons with the Rays, Marlins, Astros, Mariners and Mets.
Stanek posted a 5.30 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 56 innings with New York in 2025, averaging 98.5 mph on his four-seam fastball. Stanek also mixes in a slider, split finger and sweeper.
His best year came in 2022 in Houston, where he had a 1.15 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 54 2/3 innings, helping the Astros win a World Series title.
Stanek has 89 career holds and 14 saves, and could slot in as a high-leverage reliever in the St. Louis bullpen.
