US tennis fans have become increasingly dissatisfied and nervous when it comes to winning Grand Slams.
The last American to win a men’s Grand Slam was Andy Roddick, who won the US Open in 2003.
Although some were on the verge of great success, no American since then has managed to win one of the major tournaments, and from year to year there are various predictions about who could win the Grand Slam trophy.
During the podcast, Sam Querrey gave interesting predictions about which American could win the Grand Slam title.
Querrey believes that Taylor Fritz is motivated to become the first American, considering that he has compatriots behind him who are really dangerous opponents and who can take away his position.
Sam Querrey is particularly enthusiastic about Fritz's mental strength, believing that the American tennis player has the necessary self-belief, and when you have faith, you certainly have the potential to achieve great success.
“I still think it’s [Taylor] Fritz,” Querrey said.
“It seems like he gets challenged for that number one American spot, whether it’s by Tommy Paul or Ben Shelton, at the end of the day, Taylor is always the guy that jumps on it, and ends number one on the American side, he’s had the best results in the Slams.
Ben Shelton is right behind him, he’s maybe got a little more firepower in his game. But outside of those two, I’m not really sure if a Tommy Paul, [Reilly] Opelka, [Sebastian] Korda, if they can make a deep run at a Slam this year or next year, who knows?
But for me, it’s still Fritz. The best part about Fritz’s game is his mind. If you ask Fritz, ‘Who is the best player in the world?’, he might say Taylor Fritz, he’s got that belief, and belief can take you a long way in this game. So for me, he’s still the guy.”
Tendinitis
Taylor Fritz, as one of the most talented tennis players in the world, has been battling tendinitis in his knee for a long time.
The famous tennis player will probably take a break later this year, but Sam Querrey expects his knee to hold up this year and that the mental strength of Fritz will again come to the fore in this case.
It will be really interesting to follow the progress of all the Americans on the ATP tour and see which of them will be the most successful this year. While Querrey gives Fritz the best chance, tennis fans are divided.
