Samoa Joe Set for AEW In-Ring Return After Brutal All In Attack

by

Samoa Joe is stepping back into the ring for the first time since AEW All In — and he’s not coming alone.

On the August 13 episode of Dynamite, Joe will team with Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata to take on LFI’s RUSH, Dralistico, and The Beast Mortos in a high-impact trios showdown.

Joe’s absence dates back to All In, where The Death Riders left him laid out in one of the event’s most vicious moments. After The Opps retained their AEW Trios Titles against Gabe Kidd, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta, the Death Riders attacked. They wrapped a steel chair around Joe’s neck and stomped down, forcing him to be stretchered out of the stadium. The attack left serious doubts about when — or if — he’d be cleared for in-ring action. Now the Samoan Submission Machine is back and ready for payback.

Full announced lineup for the 8/13 AEW Dynamite:

  • Adam Copeland vs. Stokely Hathaway
  • Jon Moxley vs. Kevin Knight
  • Hangman Page and MJF face-to-face
  • Mercedes Moné, Thekla, & Skye Blue vs. Alex Windsor, Queen Aminata, & Willow Nightingale
  • NJPW Talent, Hologram, Brody King, & Tomohiro Ishii vs. Kyle Fletcher, The Young Bucks, & Josh Alexander
  • The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, & Powerhouse Hobbs) vs. LFI (RUSH, Dralistico, & The Beast Mortos)

With his comeback set for Wednesday night, fans will be watching closely to see if Joe can stay focused on the match or if his mind will be on revenge for The Death Riders’ attack at All In. Either way, this Dynamite main event has the potential to shake up AEW’s trios division in a big way.
