Star India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson showed visible frustration and disappointment after getting dismissed against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team.

Sanju Samson was disappointed with his own performance in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 match against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Stadium.

Sanju Samson looks in great rhythm

Sanju Samson’s best as a T20I batter came at the top as he scored several centuries, but he was demoted in the batting order on the return of Shubman Gill to the T20I setup.

Samson has been given the role of the middle-order batter, and suddenly, there was a dip in his form and rhythm. He didn’t look comfortable after moving down the order, and he was slotted at No.8 in the previous match against Bangladesh.

However, Sanju Samson finally looked in good rhythm while batting at No.5 against Sri Lanka. During his stay in the middle, Samson played some impressive strokes and looked set for a half-century.

However, he fell short of the milestone by 11 runs. On the third ball of the 16th over, Dasun Shanaka bowled a full delivery to Samson, who walked down the track to hit it, but wasn’t able to make a good connection.

The ball went towards extra cover where skipper Charith Asalanka backtracked and grabbed a stunning catch in reverse cup over his head.

After getting out for 39 runs off 23 balls, with one four and three sixes, Samson looked quite livid with himself and was seen screaming in anger

He’s not getting much batting time – Varun Aaron on Samson

In an interaction on ESPNCricinfo ahead of the match, the former India pacer Varun Aaron said that Samson should be permanently slotted in the middle order and his batting position shouldn’t be changed constantly.

“He’s not getting much batting time, and when he does get batting, he’s obviously batting way outside his position. So Samson is one of those batters who they would want to give him some game time, but then again, there’s no point of batting Samson in a game like this at number three when he’s not going to bat at number three in a final. So you rather bat Sanju Samson at his place, and I would say don’t chop and change the batting lineup too much. Just make sure your batting lineup stays the same as they would in a final against maybe Pakistan,” he said.

“Absolutely, it has to be a straightforward one. India going through, sailing through, just like the way they’ve been doing in the whole tournament,” Aaron said while predicting the match result.
