by

Will the Kerala superstar wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson take over the captaincy of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after joining the squad of the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions?

This question was on the minds of the fans ever since the Rajasthan Royals (RR) traded their skipper, Sanju Samson, to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and the franchise has finally broken its silence on the matter.

Not Sanju Samson! Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead CSK

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pulled off one of the biggest trades in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) by roping in the star wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson.

Samson, who had a successful stint with the Rajasthan Royals (RR), asked for his release from the franchise due to some differences. After his request, RR started looking for a potential trade with the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams and, in the end, signed a deal with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

They traded Samson to CSK, which will be the third franchise of his career for INR 18 crore, and in exchange roped in Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.

Meanwhile, there were speculations that Samson would also get the CSK captaincy following the blockbuster trade, but that is not going to happen as Ruturaj Gaikwad will continue in the role.

“LEAD THE WAY, CAPTAIN RUTURAJ GAIKWAD #WhistlePodu,” the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted on X, confirming that they would not make any changes to the captaincy.

Jadeja’s role in CSK was defined. But did they make full use of potential? – Ex-Chennai Super Kings star

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Cheteshwar Pujara recently stated that the five-time champions didn’t make full use of Ravindra Jadeja’s potential, and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are likely to utilise him in a better manner.

“Jadeja’s role in CSK was defined. But did they make full use of potential? I feel they did not, as he was not bowling his quota of four overs in all matches. But in Rajasthan, I feel he will get his four overs in all matches. Their spinners did not bowl well, so Jadeja, being the Indian spinner, will bowl entire four overs,” he said on Star Sports.

Cheteshwar Pujara also speculated that Ravindra Jadeja might be hoping to get the captaincy of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) after switching bases in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“One name that has not come here is Dhruv Jurel. He is also a captaincy material, a very good one. He is one more option whose name has not been taken. But with Ravindra Jadeja going there, he will have the hope that he will be made captain there and will look at himself in a bigger role,” he said.
