Sarah Sjöström And Partner Johan de Jong Skierus Announce Birth Of Son

Sarah Sjöström and husband Johan de Jong Skierus have welcomed their son Adrian after a “traumatic and magical” childbirth experience.

It is the first child for Sjöström and De Jong Skierus with the three-time Olympic champion announcing they were to become parents in February.

However, the pain was such that she feared she wouldn’t survive only to experience the “most magical moment of our lives” once Adrian was safely delivered and placed on her chest.

The 32-year-old said on social media: “August 26th at 8:05 pm, our beautiful son Adrian came into the world, right outside the hospital (södersjukhuset) on the hospital driveway in an ambulance. 🩵

“I was managing the contractions at home with breathing, a warm bath, or tens for 24h. 5h hours before he was born, we went in for a check-up because I had a feeling it was close to delivery. But we were sent home since I was still in the very early stages.(only 2 cm open).

“A while after we came back home, everything changed quickly within moments, the contractions pain became overwhelming. I started bleeding and we immediately called the delivery ward at the hospital we were supposed to go to, the midwife probably recognized from my breathing through the phone that I was already in the pushing stage, and thankfully she insisted on sending us an ambulance that will take us to the next available hospital. The one we were supposed to go to was full.

“The ride to the hospital, felt endless. Even though it was with full throttle and blue lights on. The pain was indescribable, way to late for any pain relief like I had planned to go for. I truly believed, that I wouldn’t survive. When we arrived, the ambulance doors were thrown open by the delivery team, and our baby was already on his way out. He was born right there in the chaos outside the hospital entrance in the ambulance.

“The moment that changed everything: when he was placed on my chest and we heard his very first cry. From unimaginable pain and fear to the most magical moment of our lives.

“It was traumatic and magical all at once.
My body and soul will take time to heal. But we are endlessly grateful that he is finally here. And that he is an healthy and happy boy. 🥹💙✨
