For the sixth time in 12 weeks, both of the Big East’s weekly awards belong to the UConn women’s basketball team.

Sophomore superstar Sarah Strong picked up her third consecutive Player of the Week honor and her sixth of the 2025-26 season after leading the Huskies in scoring in all three games last week, averaging 20 points on 58.1% shooting across the team’s trio of victories.

Strong recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds plus three assists, three steals and three blocks to lead UConn’s 85-47 rout of Notre Dame, and she added 25 points plus eight boards, five assists and four steals in an 83-42 win at Georgetown. The All-American sophomore capped the week with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals in the Huskies’ 92-52 victory at Seton Hall.

Strong currently leads No. 1 UConn in every major statistical category, and she also ranks first in the country in defensive rating and win shares. The star forward has scored in double digits in 35 consecutive games dating back to Feb. 12, 2025, and she is flirting with a historically efficient season shooting 59.6% from the field, 39.3% on 3-pointers and 91.1% at the free throw line. She could become the first player in college basketball history to average 60/40/90 splits if she adds a few points to her field goal and 3-point percentages.

Huskies freshman Blanca Quinonez also picked up her seventh freshman of the week honor, averaging 10.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists across the team’s three wins last week. She had her best performance at Seton Hall, logging 16 points, five rebounds and three steals. The freshman forward is UConn’s third-leading scorer averaging less than 20 minutes per game off the bench, and she also ranks third on the team in 3-point percentage hitting 40.4% from beyond the arc.

The Huskies look to continue their undefeated start in Big East play Wednesday when they host Xavier at Gampel Pavilion, and they have a major ranked matchup coming up Sunday against longtime rival Tennessee in Hartford.
