Scottie Scheffler vs Tiger Woods? Ian Poulter shares honest opinion

by

Scottie Scheffler is a golfer who has been attracting the attention of the public for a long time, and the same happened this time. The victory at the Open Championship gave additional importance to this golfer, who is the main topic of analysts, golfers and former stars of this sport every day.

Comparisons between Scheffler and Tiger Woods have already begun, and the opinion of important figures in this sport is attracting public interest.

Ian Poulter, a well-known face, stressed during a guest appearance on the Sky Sports podcast that Scheffler reminds him a lot of Tiger.

Nevertheless, Poulter believes that consistency will be the key to everything, and even without that, Scheffler can hardly be compared with the 49-year-old golfer.

“Look, what he’s been able to produce in the last couple of seasons is very Tiger-esque.

Whether he continues that for the next 10 years and dominates for the next 10 years, then obviously you’d have to put that in the brackets of kind of what Tiger did. So it’s probably a little early at the minute, but he’s kind of on par.”- he said, as quoted by the Golfing Gazette.

Henrik Stenson reacts

Henrik Stenson, a colleague from LIV Golf, also touched on Scheffler's great form.

Stenson is delighted with Scottie's consistency, desire and drive, but still isn't sure the two golfers compare.

For serious comparisons, it will be necessary for Scheffler to continue at the same pace, and it seems that he could succeed in this.

However, injuries or loss of motivation can often be an obstacle for golfers, but it is hoped that the 29-year-old will avoid injuries and remain as motivated as before.

“Yeah he’s had an incredible last three or four years, right?

It’s been really, really remarkable. And yeah, nothing short of admiration for the results that he’s produced.

Is it kind of a comparison to Tiger I don’t know. I mean, Tiger’s Tiger right? But yeah, let’s see what happens over the next couple of years and we’ll see where we end up with that.”
