The Maryland football program has zeroed in on its new offensive coordinator.
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, Maryland is expected to hire Arkansas quarterbacks coach Clint Trickett to be its offensive coordinator. Pep Hamilton, who was Maryland’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during the 2025 season, will move to an advisory role, per On3’s Pete Nakos.

Trickett was only the quarterbacks coach at Arkansas for two months before Maryland targeted him for its offensive coordinator position. He spent the 2025 season at Jacksonville State as the school’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
His offense ranked first in total offense among all Conference USA teams.
Before his brief tenure at Arkansas and Jacksonville State, Trickett spent the 2024 season with Georgia Southern as the school’s inside receivers and tight ends coach and passing-game coordinator. He has also coached at Marshall, Florida Atlantic and East Mississippi.

Maryland enters the 2026 season in desperate need of a big year after finishing the 2025 season with a 4-8 record. Maryland has only won eight games in the last two seasons and has finished below .500 in four of head coach Mike Locksley’s seven seasons at the helm.
Arkansas is also trying to turn things around in 2026 after finishing the 2025 season with a 2-10 record. Sam Pittman was in his sixth season as head coach before he was fired after a 2-3 start. Bobby Petrino took over for the rest of the season and went 0-7.
Ryan Silverfield is now the head coach of the Razorbacks.
