Sepp Straka weighs in on whether Luke Donald should stay or step aside

by

Although the Ryder Cup on Bethpage Black ended only a few months ago, golf fans are already thinking about the next edition and making interesting analyses.

The last Ryder Cup was specific in many ways.

The European team managed to win on away soil and thus achieve one of the greatest feats in the history of golf.

Luke Donald, the captain of the European team, was also an important figure on that journey, who even managed to bring victory to the Europeans as captain on two occasions.

However, some are questioning how ready Donald is to captain again next year at Adare Manor.

Sepp Straka, the Austrian golfer who is an important figure of the European team, spoke about whether Luke Donald will remain the captain or whether he will step down.

Straka believes that if Donald really wants to leave the European team, he should be allowed to do so, considering that such a job carries a huge responsibility and that it is really difficult to cope with so many obligations.

“I have no idea if he will. I’m not sure. He’s playing it very close to the vest here. He’s not giving us a whole lot of info on that. But I think he should if he wants to.

I think it’s a big undertaking. I’ve seen what he’s gone through the last four years. It’s a massive job. I mean, he is meticulous in his preparation, leaves no stone unturned, and really treats it like a job.

So it would be up to whatever he wants to do, with his family in mind, and if he wants to spend another two years doing that. It’s incredibly rewarding, I think, when you do it, but it is hard work. I would love nothing more than for him to be the captain. That would be incredible.”- Straka said, as reported by HITC.

Luke Donald's decision

Although Luke Donald has not yet spoken about his future or plans, it is certain that he will think about everything carefully and make a final decision.

Being the captain of the European team is a great honor, but on the other hand it is also a great responsibility, and often, if you make the wrong moves, you are the first to be targeted by critics.
