Serhiy Antonov has been appointed head coach of the Polish archery federation’s senior national team, effective from 1 January.
Antonov is a seasoned archery professional with a long track record as both an athlete and coach. As an archer, he competed for Ukraine at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and appeared at multiple World Archery Championships, both outdoor and indoor, bringing valuable competitive insight to his coaching work.
He previously served with Poland in 2018-19 and held the position of head coach of the Ukrainian national team in 2016-17 and again from 2022-25.
“I am pleased to have the opportunity to work in Poland once again and for the trust placed in me by the Polish archery federation,” said Antonov. “My goal is stable, consistent work with the national team and preparing athletes to compete at the highest international level.”
Antonov’s appointment is part of the federation’s strategic plan to elevate the competitive standard of the national team and enhance athlete preparation for major international events.
“Coach Antonov’s return to work in Poland is an important step for the national team – not only for seniors, but also for younger athletes, as he will also be responsible for junior development,” said Dawid Michalski, president of the federation. “His coaching experience and prior knowledge of the Polish training system are significant assets in achieving our sporting goals.”
Antonov led his first senior team training consultation on 8 January in Cetniewo and will meet with the personal coaches of national team athletes later in the month.
