Shane Lowry opens up on “miserable” year on PGA Tour players council

by

The world of golf has been in tension for a long time, but in the last year it can be seen that things are slowly going in the right direction and that golf could get back on track.

Many golfers who were involved in various ways in the world of golf, such as members of the PGA Tour players council, later complained that the involvement brought them more trouble than good and that they lost focus on their golf as a result.

Shane Lowry, a popular golfer, is one of those who felt frustrated by the whole situation.

He was a member of the PGA Tour Players Council in 2023 and has been open about how grueling the experience has been.

During that year, he talked to players who wanted to move to LIV Golf and followed their decisions, which created additional pressure and seriously spoiled his goals on the golf scene.

The 38-year-old Lowry now does not want to be involved in such councils and similar organizations anymore, stressing that he still has a few years left at the top level and that he wants to give his best to achieve success in his career.

"They asked me to go on it a few years ago," Lowry said, as reported by Golf Magic.

"And you spend a year in everyone's business, worrying about what's going on, who is going where.

Like things like finding out players are going to LIV, and having a little conversation with them about, like, why are you going or why wouldn't you stay or something like that.

I feel like it kind of was a bit – it was a bit of a miserable year to be honest, where, you know, you stopped worrying about yourself."

The future of golf

The future of golf is certainly interesting.

Lowry is probably one of the strongest weapons on the PGA Tour, his career is truly impressive, and we will see how dominant he will be, both this year and in the years to come.
