“West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford is set to represent the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2026 season following a successful trade from the Gujarat Titans (GT). Acquired by GT for a fee of INR 2.6 crore, Rutherford will move to MI at his existing fee. The 27-year-old has featured in 44 T20Is for the West Indies and holds the record for the highest sixth-wicket partnership in T20Is, having stitched together a 139-run stand with Andre Russell against Australia in Perth.”
“Rutherford has played 23 IPL matches so far, having earlier represented Delhi Capitals in 2019 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2022. He was part of the MI squad in 2020 and the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024, but did not feature in the playing XI during those seasons,” the IPL governing council stated.

With the exit of Dream 11, the Gujarat Titans (GT) have roped in Birla Estates, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aditya Birla Real Estate Limited (ABREL), as their principal sponsor.
“This collaboration allows us to connect with millions of fans across India and beyond, celebrating shared values of passion, perseverance, and progress. Together, we look forward to building something truly special that resonates both on and off the field,” KT Jithendran, MD and CEO of Birla Estates, said.
“Partnering with Birla Estates not only enhances the Gujarat Titans’ brand portfolio but also reflects our commitment to collaborating with iconic institutions that elevate our presence across geographies. Together, we look forward to creating unique experiences that strengthen our collective brand value and open new avenues for growth,” Colonel Arvinder Singh, COO of Gujarat Titans, stated.
Venkatesh Iyer on Gujarat Titans’ radarm
Gujarat Titans (GT) are likely to push Washington Sundar at No.4 after the exit of Rutherford, and former Chennai Super Kings player Anirudha Srikkanth has come up with yet another massive suggestion.
He stated that the pace-bowling all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer can be a vital asset for the Gujarat Titans if he gets released from the Kolkata Knight Riders.
“An ideal fit for GT will be Venkatesh Iyer. He has gone for Rs 23.75 crores, so KKR will surely release him. He will be perfect for GT at the No. 4 position. GT have all the other positions covered,” Srikkanth said while speaking on Star Sports.
