by

Paralympic champion Harvinder Singh ranked first in recurve men after qualification at the Nove Mesto 2025 European Para Archery Cup Leg 2 and Finals in Czechia on Monday.

The world number one shot a 653 to top the men’s list, 20 points ahead of Stefano Travisani of Italy.

The tournament features many of the biggest stars of the sport outside China. Rakesh Kumar of India, the world number two finished top of the men’s compound list with a 694. Kumar, who shot in the World Games in Chengdu earlier this month was two points clear of his teammate Shyam Sunder Swami.

Elisabetta Mijno returned to form, topping the women’s recurve list with 650, a full 32 points ahead of her nearest rival Milena Olszewska of Poland, who won last time out at the first leg in Rome.

Mijno, the five-time Paralympian from Italy was not at the Rome leg earlier this year, but returns shortly before Gwangju 2025 with a statement of intent. Despite collecting a huge number of medals since her international debut in 2008, she is still searching for an individual world or Paralympic title.

Great Britain’s Jessica Stretton topped the women’s compound list just ahead of her teammate Phoebe Paterson Pine, sometimes known as ‘Triple P’. Both are former Paralympic champions: Phoebe at Tokyo 2020 and Jessica at Rio 2016

Italy’s Paolo Tonon topped the men’s W1 list with 657, a full 11 points better than his qualification in Rome earlier this year, with the experienced Sarka Pultar Musilova of the host nation Czechia leading the women with 649.

The competition continues with team and individual matches on Tuesday. You can watch live footage of the individual gold medal finals on Saturday 30 August with a subscription to archery+.
