Paralympic Champion Harvinder Singh ranked first in recurve men’s qualifying at the second leg of the European Para Archery Cup in Nove Mesto on Monday.
The world number one shot 653 points to top the list, 20 clear of Italy’s Stefano Travisani.
The tournament has drawn many of the sport’s biggest names outside China. India’s Rakesh Kumar, the world number two, led the compound men’s field with 694 – two points ahead of teammate Shyam Sunder Swami. Kumar also shot at the World Games in Chengdu earlier this month.
Italy’s Elisabetta Mijno returned to form in recurve women, scoring 650 and finishing a full 32 points ahead of Poland’s Milena Olszewska, the Rome leg winner.
Mijno, a five-time Paralympian, missed the first stage but returns ahead of Gwangju 2025 with a statement of intent. Despite a long career and a large haul of international medals since her debut in 2008, she is still chasing a first individual world or Paralympic title.
Great Britain’s Jessica Stretton topped compound women’s list with 694, just ahead of teammate Phoebe Paterson Pine, sometimes known as ‘Triple P’. Both are former Paralympic Champions – Stretton at Rio 2016 and Paterson Pine at Tokyo 2020.
Italy’s Paolo Tonon led the W1 men’s qualifying with 657, 11 points better than his qualification in Rome earlier this year. In W1 women, Czech veteran Sarka Pultar Musilova pleased the home crowd with 649 and the top seed.
The competition continues with team and individual matches on Tuesday.
