Skye Blue isn’t just back from injury — she’s back with a whole new look and attitude, and every detail was planned to send a message.
Speaking to Denise Salcedo, the AEW star revealed that her striking silver-and-black hair was inspired by a fantasy book series, tying directly into her darker “spooky” persona.
“So the hair—I mean, I ripped them out ‘cause I’m getting new hair—but the silver and black came from a book actually… I don’t know if you’ve heard of the Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros… but the main female character, her hair is like silver at the bottom, and it was kind of like the silver is rooted from the evil that comes up from the ground and then it’s like slowly creeping up the hair. So that was where I got the hair from, ‘cause I was like, ‘Oh, it works with the whole spooky thing.’”
For Skye, the new presentation is more than just aesthetic — it’s about proving she’s evolved during her 10-month absence from the ring.
“I feel like with coming back, I just wanted to make a statement. I wanted to show that even though I was like 10 months out, I’ve been thinking about this, I’ve been working on this, I’ve been 24/7 wrestling in my brain when I wasn’t trying to distract my brain from it. And I wanted to—I didn’t want to be the same Skye Blue that I was before. I wanted to show, ‘Hey, this is me, but I’ve worked my ass off to get back to this point, and now that I am back, you can’t ignore me. I’m here and you’re stuck with me.’”
With her revamped look, renewed mindset, and darker edge, Skye Blue is making it clear she’s not just returning to AEW — she’s demanding to be noticed.
