The Marquette women’s basketball team was overwhelmed by top-ranked Connecticut from the opening tip on Dec. 17 at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut.
The Huskies (11-0, 3-0 Big East) led, 27-12, after the first quarter and cruised from there to an 89-53 victory.

Sarah Strong had 22 points to lead four players in double figures for the Huskies.
The Golden Eagles (7-4, 2-1) were led by Skylar Forbes, who had 17 points on 7-for-14 shooting. Nobody else scored in double figures.
MU came into the games shooting 39.9% on 3-pointers, which was fifth in the country. But against UConn, the Golden Eagles shot just 5 for 16 from long range.
The Huskies improved to 23-1 in the series. MU’s lone victory came at the Al McGuire Center on Feb 8, 2023.
