Leg breaks are part of mixed martial arts (MMA) and always will be, but that doesn’t make it easier for fight fans to watch.
Unfortunately, the MMA gods offered up another harsh reality check on Friday night (Sept. 5, 2025) at ACA 191 from Krasnodar, Russia, as one fighter was left with a broken leg after just 18 seconds of action. It was a stark reminder that anything can happen at any time when punches and kicks are flying.
The incident occurred during a heavyweight clash on the main card between former UFC fighter, Klidson Abreu, and Russian Sambo expert, Adam Bogatyrev. It wasn’t expected to be a technical war by any stretch of the imagination, but the Russian fans in attendance were hoping to see their fellow countryman last longer than 18 seconds.
In the opening moments of the fight, Bogatyrev launched a whipping inside leg kick. Abreu seemed to lift his right knee at the perfect time and once Bogatyrev’s leg connected it completely snapped. Bogatyrev stepped back and instantly knew something was wrong. He immediately fell to the canvas in agony and the fight was waved off.
Not the type of ending the Russian faithful wanted to see and certainly not a scenario either heavyweight fighter planned for. It’s also not the easiest thing to watch, but you can check it out below if you dare:
