For the second time this season, the Alabama Crimson Tide have defeated a Top 10 team outside of Tuscaloosa.
Yes, even despite the season only being a few weeks old, Alabama has already picked up a second Top 10 road win, doing so Wednesday night in Chicago with a thrilling 90-86 victory over Illinois inside the United Center. Previously, Alabama also defeated then No. 5 St. John’s in Madison Square Garden back on Nov. 8, 103-96.

On Wednesday night, Alabama and Illinois went back-and-forth for a large portion of the first half, with the Fighting Illini ultimately leading by one at halftime. Alabama however claimed a lead early in the second half, maintained that advantage throughout the game’s final 20 minutes, and used some massive free throws to secure the victory late, combined with some massive shots down the stretch from Labaron Philon Jr..
Philon also led the way statistically for Alabama on Wednesday night, finishing with 24 points and five assists on 9-of-18 shooting from the field despite being in foul trouble at times. Amari Allen, despite fouling out, also had a big showing with nine points, 11 rebounds, and four assists, as did Keitenn Bristow, who flirted with a double-double in his Alabama debut at 10 points and eight rebounds.
