The Fever managed to win their last game over the Chicago Sky despite missing all three of their point guards. So Indiana had to slide Sophie Cunningham, a natural shooting guard, into the starting point guard role, and she will likely do the same again on Tuesday.
During Monday’s media availability, Boston was asked what she saw from her team against the Sky, and she proceeded to give Cunningham a fitting new nickname: “Point guard Soph.”
“I think our whole play,” Boston said. “It wasn’t perfect, obviously, but I think our ability to make adjustments on the fly, think about stuff right before the game, and be able to play in that way. And then have people play different positions like point guard Soph. I think that was just pretty big for us.”

Boston finished her answer by commenting on the Fever’s resilience.
“I feel like our whole season, it’s been about being resilient and figure out how to be consistent through all of that,” Boston added. “And so for us, I thought that Saturday was a good example for that.”
Cunningham played well in her point guard debut, tallying 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting with three rebounds and two assists. But it was Kelsey Mitchell who took her playmaking up a notch, nearly tying her career high (nine) with eight assists.

Boston also benefited from Indiana’s change, tallying 15 points and four rebounds.
The Fever added Odyssey Sims to help carry the load without a point guard, but given her limited time with the team and last game’s lineup, coach Stephanie White may stick with the same starters against the Wings.
