South Carolina Age-Group Star Millie Conner Continues to Shine; Claims Several High-Point Awards
Millie Conner, one of the country’s top swimmers in the 11-12 age group, has continued to churn out impressive performances. The standout youngster, who represents Team Greenville Swimming, recently won all 12 of her events at the South Carolina Age Group Championships. By sweeping the 12 events, Conner captured high-point honors amnd tallied a perfect score of 192 points.
During her recently completed season, Conner established five South Carolina Swimming LSC records, including in the 50-yard butterfly, where she was timed in 26.37. She also broke the LSC record in the long-course version of the 50 fly (28.79) and the 3k open-water swim (39:32.70). Conner also contributed to a pair of record-setting relays for Team Greenville.
Another high-point award was earned by Conner at the Swim Association Invitational League (SAIL) Classics, where she broke three records. In the short-course meters competition, Conner recorded a time of 1:08.03 in the 100 individual medley, wnt 31.13 in the 50 backstroke and clocked a mark of 29.16 in the 50 butterfly.
Conner stayed busy late into the summer and represented South Carolina Swimming in the 11-12 age group at the USA Swimming Southern Zone Championships, held in Orlando from July 30-Aug. 2. En route to high-point recognition, Conner left Southern Zones with two gold medals, two silver medals and a pair of fourth-place finishes. Her winning time in the 50 fly was 28.79, which lowered her South Carolina record and was a Southern Zones championship standard, too. Conner’s time in the 50 fly sits just outside the top-25 of all-time for her age group, coming in at 26th.
