South Carolina women’s basketball: Friday recruiting update

by

A pair of top 15 recruits announced their finalists, while a top ten recruit revealed her commitment timeline. Get the details in our Friday recruiting roundup.

Edwards is down to six
On Tuesday, I had an update on Oliviyah Edwards’ recruitment. I noted that, at the time, she had a top ten but appeared to have unofficially eliminated about half of those teams.

Now it’s official.

After I posted the story, Edwards announced her top six. She has narrowed her potential destinations to South Carolina, Tennessee, LSU, Southern Cal, Florida, and Washington.

Edwards has already taken her official visit to Southern Cal. She has visits scheduled for Tennessee, South Carolina, and LSU. Edwards has not set dates for Florida or her home-state Huskies.

Edwards is ESPN’s second-ranked prospect and Rivals’ fourth-ranked prospect. She is a superb athlete who can dunk, shoot, handle, rebound, and defend.

Jacy Abii’s top five
Abii is a 6-2 2026 wing from Frisco, Texas. She is ranked 10th by ESPN and 12th by Rivals.

Abii had an offer from South Carolina, but there didn’t seem to be much serious interest. Still, the Gamecocks were included in the top 16 that Abii announced in December.

On Wednesday, Abii announced her top five, officially eliminating South Carolina from contention. Her top five programs are UCLA, Texas, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and LSU.

McKenna Woliczko update
Woliczko, the 6-2 wing from California, did an interview with local Bay Area media where she updated her recruitment and recovery from a torn ACL.

Woliczko recently went on a European tour with her AAU team, Jason Kidd Selet. She was able to play, but they did arrange for her to score her final AAU basket. She stood under the basket at tipoff so her teammates could pass to her for a layup, and then she immediately subbed out of the game

Woliczko took her official visit to Ohio State in the spring and her official visit to Columbia at the end of June. She has one more visit scheduled for Iowa on the weekend of August 28, and hopes to make her decision in the next couple of weeks after that.

“I’m hoping that in the couple of weeks after that, I’ll be able to talk to my parents, talk to my coaches, kind of see what we’re thinking,” she said. “Depending on where I commit, there’s different ways I could (announce it).”

Woliczko talks about her South Carolina visit starting at the 3:30 mark in the video.

Woliczko is the sixth-ranked prospect in the 2026 class by Rivals and ESPN. Her final four are Ohio State, Southern Cal, Iowa, and South Carolina. She recently became the first high school player to sign with the agency Disrupt The Game, which will handle her representation.
