Nebraska women’s basketball picked up its third commit for the 2026 recruiting class and its first five-star prospect. Wagner, South Dakota native Ashlyn Koupal announced her commitment to the Huskers on social media.

Koupal picked Nebraska over Duke, Kansas, Michigan State, and TCU. The 6-foot-2 power forward is a dual-sport athlete, competing in both volleyball and basketball at Wagner High School.

On the basketball court, she is coming off a massive junior season, earning South Dakota’s Gatorade player of the year. She averaged 22.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.3 blocks, and 2.5 steals per game across 22 games.

Koupal’s play earned her a third consecutive selection to the Class A all-state first team. She was one of 45 high school girls’ basketball players from across the country invited to the 2025 USA Basketball women’s junior national team minicamp during the NCAA Women’s Final Four.

Koupal is also ranked as the No. 12 overall prospect and No. 5 power forward in her class and earned a five-star rating per 247sports composite.

Her commitment comes one day after Maddi Stewart announced her commitment to Nebraska. She and Stewart join four-star recruit Ava Miles, who committed to the Huskers back in July.
