Ashlyn Koupal, a senior-to-be at Wagner Community School in South Dakota, selected the Huskers over the likes of Duke, Michigan State, TCU and Kansas.

“While I was on the visit, I knew I wanted to go there,” Koupal told Rivals. “I feel like I’ve kind of had a feeling it would be Nebraska, but I just hadn’t committed yet.”

After discussions with those closest to her, Koupal gave Nebraska her verbal while on the official visit. She is ranked as the top player in South Dakota, the No. 3 overall power forward in her class and the ninth-best player in the country, according ot 247Sports.

She earned a third Class A all-state first team honor and was part of the select few to attend a minicamp for 2025 USA Basketball women’s junior national team during the NCAA Final Four earlier this year.

Nebraska has reached the NCAA Tournament each of the past two seasons under Williams, who has led the school since 2016. They went 21-12 overall and 10-8 in the Big Ten Conference last year, placing in a tie for eighth.
