Although a long time has passed since the split between Carlos Alcaraz and his long-time coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, it seems that the reactions have not subsided yet.
Their shocking split caused an avalanche of reactions in tennis circles, and among those who reacted was Pablo Carreño Busta, a Spanish tennis player, who himself does not seem to know exactly what really happened between Ferrero and Carlos.
In his interview with the Spanish media Diario AS, Carreño Busta drew a parallel between the split between Alcaraz and Ferrero and the split between Toni Nadal and Rafael Nadal.

Carreño Busta is equally puzzled by this outcome, but he is aware that the world of tennis sometimes brings unpredictable moments.
"Like everyone else, I found it unexpected, something we didn't think was possible. But perhaps in the long run, as happened with Toni and Rafa, there comes a point when it's been too many years. It's a very close relationship because you spend a lot of time with the player or the coach, and that takes its toll," Carreno Busta said.
"But I don't know exactly what prompted Carlos or his team to make this decision, nor what led Juan Carlos to accept or reject certain conditions. I don't know what those conditions are. I also can't say for sure what happened, because I don't know," Carreno Busta continued.

Speculations that followed
After the split of this duo, speculations immediately appeared, and one of the more likely ones is that Carlos and Ferrero could not reach an agreement on the terms of the contract.
However, although many doubted whether the 22-year-old can be a dominant figure even without a long-time coach, Carlos already showed with his performance at the Australian Open that this would not be a problem for him, and with the victory, he completed the Career Grand Slam.
The young tennis player thus laid a strong foundation for success this season. Carlos Alcaraz is now focused on the next challenges with the new coach, while the future of Juan Carlos Ferrero is still unknown, given that the Spanish coach has not revealed his plans for the future.
