What happens when two of the world’s biggest creators collide? You’re about to find out with the upcoming Gotham vs. Song match, taking place in Madrid, Spain from January 15 to 18. IMs Levy Rozman and Julien Song will compete in a series of 14 games.
The match will be broadcast live in English on Levy’s channel and in French on Song’s. Fans can tune in to enjoy every move, with live commentary on both channels.
Levy, a.k.a. GothamChess, needs no introduction. The internet’s chess teacher, Levy is the biggest chess creator on earth, with millions of followers on social media. Levy is no stranger to this type of match, having beaten GM Pia Cramling in a similar event earlier in 2024.
“We played on Inoxtag’s stream last May and then at my live event in Brussels, with two draws. That was not good enough,” said Levy about the match.
English audiences might not be as familiar with Song, but the French-speaking chess community surely is. One of the biggest chess creators in France, Song started focusing on content creation only four years ago. Still, the international master had a meteoric rise, amassing over 700,000 followers on YouTube alone.
“I’m really happy to be playing Gotham Chess, the world’s number one creator versus the number one creator in the French-speaking world,” said Song. “I think it’s going to be an amazing match! I know my community has been looking forward to a match like this.”

The Gotham vs. Song event will feature 14 games played across three time controls: two classical, four rapid, and eight blitz. It will feature a weighted scoring system in which wins and draws in longer time controls earn more points. All the games will be FIDE rated.

After two draws between the two, it is finally time to see who comes out on top. Tune in to Levy’s and Song’s broadcast on January 15 to root for your favorite creator!
