Stephanie Vaquer’s ankle injury is real—but fans worried she might have to give up her Women’s World Championship can breathe a little easier.
After a ton of speculation following the brutal attack by Raquel Rodriguez on the January 5, 2026 episode of WWE RAW, a new report from PWInsider has clarified that while Vaquer is hurt, the injury won’t sideline her long-term.
It was noted that Vaquer wasn’t injured to the point that she’ll be forced to vacate her Women’s World Title. There are talent who always deal with injuries, and WWE describes it as something that’s very normal.
This comes after Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp initially confirmed the injury’s legitimacy on the Post-RAW show, adding, “It is a legit injury. I was just told that the injury was legit, and I do not know the severity of it.”
Sapp also pointed out that Vaquer being in a walking boot—not a full cast—and still participating in some physical segments on RAW is a good sign. WWE could potentially stretch her reign through the upcoming Royal Rumble and even into Elimination Chamber if her condition improves.
“Her being in a walking boot instead of a cast, and doing some physicality, is at least optimistic. Since she defended the title last week, if the injury isn’t that bad, you can buy yourself six or seven weeks. You can probably buy yourself till Chamber, considering that the Royal Rumble is coming up soon.”
Vaquer’s emotional promo at Barclays Center, delivered in both English and Spanish, seemed like a farewell moment—but was cleverly used to set up Raquel’s vicious double attack, targeting her injured ankle with a steel chair and leaving her writhing in pain backstage. Michael Cole summed it up on commentary: “Stephanie is hurt bad.”
Stephanie Vaquer captured the Women’s World Championship on September 20, 2025, defeating IYO SKY at Wrestlepalooza, and has held the gold for over 100 days. With this update, it looks like her reign might continue—at least for now.
