Stephanie White Directly Addresses Fever Player Who Shot 19% Against Storm in Fiery Locker Room Speech originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Indiana Fever pulled off a huge win on Sunday as they defeated the Seattle Storm on the road, 78-74. It wasn’t Indiana’s best performance of the season, but what made the win so impressive is the fact that they were able to withstand a late surge from a Storm team that just refused to give up.

Kelsey Mitchell Struggled Against Storm
Kelsey Mitchell had an off day shooting the ball against Seattle. The three-time All-Star went 3-of-16 overall, while missing all of her attempts from beyond the arc. She finished with nine points, two rebounds, five assists and two steals in 30 minutes of action.
Despite her struggles from the field, Mitchell came up big down the stretch for Indiana. She showcased her playmaking talent in the clutch, while also hitting a couple of crucial shots in what turned out to be a close battle between two unrelenting teams.

Fever Coach Stephanie White Has Words for Mitchell
Indiana head coach Stephanie White was pumped after the win. She delivered a fiery locker room speech as she congratulated her players for their gritty performance.
“I’m really proud of you guys,” White said. “There were so many ways in a close game and in game situations where we grew today that were huge for us y’all. That will pay dividends, so great (expletive) job. I’m proud of you guys.”
The veteran shot-caller then turned her attention to Mitchell.

“Everybody contributed. Everybody contributed and gave us a lift. Kels, I know it’s a tough (expletive) shooting day, but the way you facilitated and that one big jumper you made,” White said, whose message was interrupted by loud cheers from the squad.
As White indicated in her message, Mitchell brings so much to the table for this squad. On a day that her shot just wouldn’t find the bottom of the net, the 5-foot-8 guard still found a way to make a significant impact in the game.
More of the same will be expected from Mitchell as the Fever continue to deal with their Caitlin Clark injury crisis. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year is set to miss her eighth straight game on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Sparks with no timetable for her return.

The Fever have done admirably well during her absence, though, winning five consecutive contests. There’s no denying that Mitchell has been at the center of this surge, and she will need to keep it going amid Clark’s absence.
