Steve Sarkisian’s representatives pushed back Saturday against a report by The Athletic’s Dianna Russini linking him to NFL interest, calling it untrue.

CAA agents Jimmy Sexton and Ed Marynowitz issued a statement denying that any communication had taken place between Sarkisian’s camp and professional teams.
“Any reports regarding communications on coaching opportunities with NFL teams are patently false and wildly inaccurate,” the statement read. “Sark is solely focused on coaching the University of Texas football team.”
The denial came hours after Russini reported that representatives for Sarkisian had expressed interest in potential NFL head coaching openings, specifically the Tennessee Titans’ vacancy.
Sarkisian, 51, has two prior NFL stints as the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive coordinator from 2017-18 before returning to college football under Nick Saban at Alabama. He was also the quarterback coach for the Oakland Raiders in 2004.

Now in his fifth season leading Texas, Sarkisian has compiled a 43-19 record and guided the Longhorns to a College Football Playoff berth last season.

Much of the attention around Texas has centered on sophomore quarterback Arch Manning, who has thrown for 1,449 yards and 12 touchdowns while adding five rushing scores. Despite offensive inconsistencies, Sarkisian said earlier this week he has no plans to relinquish play-calling duties.
Texas entered Week 9 ranked No. 22 nationally with a 5-2 record, including 2-1 in SEC play. The Longhorns visit Mississippi State on Saturday (4:15 p.m. ET, SEC Network), aiming for a third straight win after a loss to Florida.
