Rusev isn’t just proud of his jawline—it’s apparently strong enough to take out Stone Cold Steve Austin.
During his appearance on SHAK Wrestling, Rusev shared one of his favorite stories from his WWE run, involving a wild encounter with the Texas Rattlesnake. It all went down at WrestleMania 32, when Steve Austin, Mick Foley, and Shawn Michaels made a surprise appearance to confront Rusev and the rest of the League of Nations—Wade Barrett, Sheamus, and Alberto Del Rio.
“I was so happy about it. I was… I was so happy about it because he told me before, you know, ‘Oh before, you know, my shoulder’s a little bit hurt, but we’ll see what happens out there.’”
Things escalated quickly when Austin threw a punch that Rusev definitely felt—but so did the Texas Rattlesnake.
“And he punched me so hard, you know, before that stunner. And then I find out his shoulder got torn. I was like, man, well, this is what happens… when you want to punch my Bulgarian beautiful jaw so hard, at the end, your shoulder gives up. But beautiful stunner after that.”
Despite Austin walking away injured, Rusev says it was still a career highlight to share the ring with one of his childhood idols on such a massive stage.
“I will always have that in my highlight reel. You know, growing up as a big Stone Cold Steve Austin fan. It’s been an honor being with him in the ring. And I hold no grudge.”
For Rusev, it wasn’t just about the pain—it was about sharing the moment with one of wrestling’s biggest legends, and he clearly cherishes every second of it.
