Bumrah started off the over with a no-ball, and Shaheen Afridi took a single to bring Sufiyan Muqeem on the strike. Then, Muqeem surprised everyone with his strokeplay as he hit a couple of boundaries against the premier pacer.

On the actual first ball of the over, Muqeem backed off to a full delivery from Bumrah and drove it towards the left of mid-off for a boundary.

Sufiyan Muqeem followed it up with another boundary over the backward point as he smashed a short delivery outside off-stump from the pacer for four.

However, Jasprit Bumrah showed Sufiyan Muqeem his place by destroying his stumps on the final ball of the over. On the sixth ball, Bumrah bowled a 137 kmph low full toss on the stumps, and Muqeem tried to play it past short fine leg, but he missed the line and saw his stumps getting rattled.

After getting out for 10 runs, Sufiyan Muqeem embarrassed himself and his entire nation by passing on a smile.

I think it’s a good opportunity for all of them – Wahab Riaz on Pakistan

Speaking ahead of the match on ESPNCricinfo, the former cricketer Wahab Riaz said that the young Pakistan team would have a point to prove against India. He said:

“See, it is good from the Pakistan perspective, obviously, it is going to be a very pressure game for both the teams, especially for Pakistan. But I believe the kind of combination Pakistan have right now, they have a lot of youngsters and they really wanted to prove a point that they are, you know, they are good and that’s why they are making it to the team.

“So, for me, I think it’s a good opportunity for all of them. And it will also be because of the new faces, India is going to bowl them for the first time or they are going to bowl India for the first time. So, I think it will be an exciting context, to be very honest.”

He had also urged Pakistan to play the express pacer Haris Rauf against India, but the Salman Agha-led team denied his suggestions and employed the spin-heavy approach.

“For me, I think they should include Haris Rauf. They need another pacer against India because India has been exceptional against the spin bowling and we know they are very destructive, the batsmen are very destructive. So, I believe that there should be one of the main fast bowlers has to come back. You cannot totally depend on these four spinners against India. I would never go like that and that’s what I think. So, they should include a fast bowler instead of one of the spinners,” Wahab Riaz said.
