Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar trolled Pakistan, claiming that Shaheen Afridi, the lower-order player, is the current best batter in the side. The left-hander has been one of the most dominant hitters on the Pakistan side.

Former Indian batting great Sunil Gavaskar has made a controversial mockery of the Pakistan side. He went on to praise Shaheen Afridi for his prowess with the bat; however, in an attempt to do so, he left the Pakistan batters red-faced.

Shaheen was seen performing well with the bat and excelling under different conditions. He came in to rescue Pakistan in the match against India during the death overs and later batted stunningly against the UAE as well.
This time around, he was sent in early at No. 7 by the Pakistan management in order to provide some momentum to the Pakistan innings. He scored a quickfire 19 before being caught by the Bangladesh skipper off Taskin Ahmed’s bowling.

Pakistan has struggled with the bat in the very crucial game against Bangladesh. Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub both got out early in the power play, while Fakhar Zaman and Hussain Talat followed them to the pavilion.
Struggling early, Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Nawaz helped Pakistan stabilize their innings and hand a respectable score to defend for their bowlers. Haris’ 31, and Nawaz’s 25, helped Pakistan reach the score of 135 in their 20 overs.
Taskin Ahmed went on to be the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in the game, while Mehdi Hasan and Rishad Hossain also provided crucial breakthroughs for the Bengal Tigers.

Shaheen Afridi is now the highest wicket-taker in the Asia Cup 2025 for Pakistan. The bowler had already picked 6 wickets, equalling his tally alongside Haris Rauf and part-timer Saim Ayub.
In his attempt to defend the score of 136, Shaheen Afridi bowled a spectacular spell with the new ball. He dismissed the openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Towhid Hridoy, giving away just 11 runs in the 3 overs.
He is now the highest wicket-taker for Pakistan with 8 wickets, while Haris Rauf follows him in the list with 7 wickets. He handed the big breakthrough to Pakistan in the form of Saif Hassan, the highest run-getter for Bangladesh in the series.
