WWE is always looking to present fun matches for fans, and they certainly went all out for Gold Rush. That being said, NXT ended on a surprising note this week.
November 4’s WWE NXT was full of hype for their Gold Rush event at The Theater in Madison Square Garden. The special two-week event will air on November 18 and November 25 on The CW.
Ethan Page and Chelsea Green capped off this week’s NXT to celebrate their AAA Mixed Tag Team Title win. They had a lot to say, but they stopped short at saying Joe Hendry’s name.
They were certain that Hendry was in the big cake in the center of the ring. However, when Alba Fyre said his name, he appeared on the entrance ramp. Then he started a back-and-forth promo with Page and Green.
Ethan Page told Joe Hendry that if he wanted a shot at the NXT North American Title, then he needed to say so. Hendry said he does want that shot, but he wants to go for the AAA Mixed Tag Team Titles at Gold Rush.
Chelsea Green and Ethan Page mocked Joe Hendry for not having a tag team partner. Then Hendry replied that they need to say her name and she will appear. Then they played Joe Hendry’s music, but Thea Hale’s name was said instead, and she popped out of the cake.
Thea hit Page and Green with pies to the face, and they left. Joe Hendry and Thea Hale ended the show while they waved their arms from side to side. This was certainly an unexpected addition to Gold Rush.
