Batting first, India posted 168/6 on the board in 19.3 overs, thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s explosive half-century. Defending the total, the Indian bowling unit bundled out Bangladesh to 127 to register a 41-run victory.
Speaking after the match, Suryakumar Yadav said that they wanted to bat first against Bangladesh to get into the groove before the final. He said:
“We didn’t get to bat first in this tournament, I think we batted first against Oman but we wanted to bat first in the Super Fours and see how it goes.”
I think Dube was perfect for that occasion in that 7-15 overs range – Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav further justified the decision to send Shivam Dube at No.3 despite the all-rounder scoring 2 runs. He said:
“Looking at their bowling lineup, they had a left-arm spinner and a leg spinner, I think Dube was perfect for that occasion in that 7-15 overs range. But it didn’t work, that’s how things go.”
Suryakumar Yadav further said that they will win most of the matches if they bowl 12-14 overs well. He said:
“If the outfield would have been really fast, it would have been 180-185 but with the bowling lineup we have, if we bowl 12-14 good overs, we will win on most occasions.”
India demolished Bangladesh in their previous encounter
When these two teams met in a T20I game last time, the Men In Blue showcased unbelievable dominance and destroyed the Bangla Tigers.
India won the toss and elected to bat first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on October 12, 2024. The batters made the most of the batting-friendly track on offer and piled up a humongous score of 297/6.
The wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson was the chief architect behind the destruction as while opening the innings, he slammed 111 runs off 47 balls.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav (75 off 35), superstar all-rounder Hardik Pandya (47 off 18), and young Riyan Parag (34 off 13) also impressed with the bat and helped the team register a historic total.
While defending the total, the Indian bowlers did a wonderful job and ensured that Team Bangladesh never once had the thought of reaching even closer to the monstrous score.
Ravi Bishnoi picked three wickets, Mayank Yadav bagged two wickets while Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy got one wicket each as India restricted Bangladesh to 164/7 and registered a 133-run win.
