Sylvester Stallone has come to Hulk Hogan’s defense when it comes to Hogan’s political beliefs, following Hogan’s passing.
While speaking to TMZ, Sylvester Stallone was asked about Hulk Hogan getting backlash for being at the RNC last year and his support for Donald Trump. Stallone said he understands how that feels. He explained that at some point, politics doesn’t matter anymore; what really matters is the kind of person someone is deep down.
The Hollywood star said Hogan was a generous and one-of-a-kind person, and most people didn’t realize how thoughtful he really was. Stallone said knowing Hogan made him a better person.
Stallone said he’s glad they were able to capture that side of Hogan on film and hopes fans can see it too. He called Hogan a strong and brave person who stood up for what he believed in, and that deserves respect.
“I do relate to it because it gets to a point where politics stop and people start. That’s when you really have to ask: what is the soul of a person all about? Nothing else matters. That’s the way I look at it. He was a unique, giving soul, and people didn’t always understand how deep he went. I can say I’m a better person for knowing him.
The beauty is that we have that on film forever, and I just hope the fans appreciate it — because that was the beginning of a titan, a truly unique individual who wasn’t afraid to stand up, as you just mentioned, and put himself on the line for what he believed in. That’s something that should always be commended.”
Hulk Hogan made headlines when he appeared at the Republican National Convention last year and Hogan’s political belief was always a subject of criticism. As fans everywhere continue to grieve the loss of the wrestling legend just wanted to remind people that Hogan’s political beliefs didn’t reflect what kind of person he was and that’s what matters in the end.
Do you agree with Sylvester Stallone that a person’s character should outweigh their political beliefs when reflecting on their legacy? Sound off in the comments.
