Two-time reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal will take the ball for the Tigers on Opening Day against the Padres, manager A.J. Hinch announced at spring camp on Wednesday morning.
Detroit will open its season in San Diego on March 26, with first pitch set for 4:10 p.m. ET.
Skubal fronts a stacked Tigers rotation that includes Jack Flaherty, Casey Mize and new additions Framber Valdez and Justin Verlander, whom the club signed to a one-year deal on Tuesday.
