But on Sunday, he added a new piece to his notoriety: He’s now committed to play his college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks.

Recruiting reporter Joe Tipton shared the news on X. Kinney said, “It was really a no-brainer…I feel like I’m going to be on that stage to be able to get to the league.”

Taylen “Tay” Kinney is a top-15 recruit in the country for the basketball Class of 2026.

In Overtime Elite last season, Kinney averaged 20.1 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.

He’s a 6-foot-3 point guard who reminds some of former Kansas star Devonte Graham.

Kinney had narrowed his decision down to a final six: Kentucky, Louisville, Kansas, Oregon, Arkansas and Indiana.

And now he’s locked in on a journey to play for Bill Self and the Jayhawks. He’s got a chance to follow in the footsteps of some phenomenal point guards at KU.
