Just when you thought TaylorMade had exhausted every possible limited-edition theme, the company drops anchor with its new TP5 and TP5x pix Pirates golf balls. Because nothing says “tour-level performance” quite like skulls, crossbones and the eternal quest for buried treasure.
This appears to be TaylorMade’s Halloween offering for 2024 although the lack of any “slutty pirate” aesthetic feels like a missed opportunity to truly tap into modern Halloween culture. Instead, we get classic pirate imagery: skulls of various forms, pirate ships and a red dotted line that leads to what TaylorMade calls a “one-of-a-kind logo.”
I suppose that works, too (even if I suspect someone at TaylorMade spent a little too long standing in line for Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland).
The attention to detail is notable. Instead of a traditional player number, each ball features an “X” that “marks the spot” below the TaylorMade logo. It’s the kind of touch that makes you appreciate the thought that goes into these limited releases, even if you’re not entirely sure why you need pirate-themed golf equipment.
The packaging continues the theme with individual sleeves showcasing the Jolly Roger flag, pirate-scripted TaylorMade logos and matching swords. Because, apparently, letting everyone know you mean business requires proper branding coordination.

Look, I could make the obvious joke about playing with pirate balls, but I’m better than that. (No, I’m not. But my editor is.)
(Eds Note: No, I’m not.)
As with all TaylorMade’s limited-edition offerings, these will likely sell out within days. The company has created something of a collectibles market with its Hot Shots series and the pirate theme seems destined to continue that trend.
Whether you’re looking to add some swashbuckling flair to your game or simply want golf balls that match your Halloween costume, the TP5 pix Pirates deliver tour-level performance wrapped in theme park-level presentation.

Just don’t blame us when you’re searching the woods for your “treasure” after another wayward drive.
The TaylorMade TP5 and TP5x pix Pirates golf balls are available now in limited quantities.
