We are now less than two weeks away from USC’s Alamo Bowl matchup against TCU. In today’s era of college football, the unfortunate reality is that bowl game rosters often do not bear much resemblance to a team’s regular season roster. This is particularly evident with USC, who will be down double-digit starters in San Antonio.
However, TCU is dealing with losses of its own, too. On Thursday, the Horned Frogs suffered a particularly notable one, as it was reported that starting quarterback Josh Hoover plans to enter the transfer portal and will not be playing in the game.

As a redshirt junior this season, Hoover started all 12 of TCU’s regular season games. He completed 65.9% of his passes for 3,472 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, while also adding two scores on the ground. He will have one year of eligibility remaining at whatever school he transfers too.
TCU backup quarterback Ken Seals attempted just six passes this season. In the Alamo Bowl, USC’s defense will look to take advantage of an opposing offense that suddenly looks significantly weaker than it did just two days ago.
