Tennessee football offers top-rated 2027 prospect from Connecticut

Tennessee is recruiting toward its 2027 football signing class. The Vols offered a scholarship to four-star defensive end Mekai Brown on Sunday.

“After a great conversation with (coach) Levorn Harbin, I’m blessed to receive an offer from Vol football,” Brown announced.

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound prospect is from Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, Connecticut. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 8 defensive end in the class and No. 1 player in Connecticut.

Boston College was the first school to offer Brown a scholarship on Jan. 19. Other schools to offer him scholarships include Rutgers, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Florida, Penn State, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, USC, West Virginia, Ohio State, Indiana, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Auburn and Georgia.

Linebacker JP Peace is Tennessee’s only 2027 football commitment.

Tennessee has 24 commitments in its 2026 football recruiting class: quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tyreek King, offensive tackle  Gabriel Osenda, linebacker Braylon Outlaw, defensive lineman CJ Edwards, defensive lineman Zach Groves, safety KJ McClain, safety Luke Thompson, defensive end Kedric Golston II, offensive lineman Edward Baker, wide receiver Zaydyn Anderson, quarterback Legend Bey, defensive lineman Dereon Albert, linebacker TJ White, cornerback Jamyan Theodore, defensive lineman Darryl Rivers, wide receiver Javonte Smith, linebacker Brayden Rouse, safety Jowell Combay, athlete Joel Wyatt, athlete Salesi Moa, offensive tackle Kamari Blair, wide receiver Tristen Keys and defensive end Hezekiah Harris.
