No. 18 Tennessee enters its second full week of fall training camp in preparation for the 2025 football season. The Vols scrimmaged for two hours at Neyland Stadium on Aug. 9.
Following the Vols’ first scrimmage in fall camp, head coach Josh Heupel discussed transfer quarterback Joey Aguilar’s ability to run Tennessee’s offense after having to learn it quickly during the summer.

“With what we’re doing offensively, in our installs from protections, to run game, controlling it and what he’s seeing on the other side of the football, how multiple we’ve been here in the early part of training camp, I really like, overall, what he’s done,” Heupel said. “There’s still more for him within the structure and the details of it, but I like what he’s done.”

Aguilar transferred to Tennessee from UCLA after spring practices. He played at Appalachian State from 2023-24, totaling 6,760 passing yards, 56 passing touchdowns, 456 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. 22 touchdown passes were either to tie a game or give his team a lead.
Aguilar enters the 2025 season as the FBS active career leader in total offense per game (288.5, minimum 2,500 yards).

He also ranks as the No. 50 player for the 2025 football season by College Sports Wire.
