Tennessee will kick off fall training camp July 30 in preparation for its 2025 football season.
The Vols will open their fifth campaign under head coach Josh Heupel on Aug. 30 versus Syracuse. The nonconference matchup between Tennessee and the Orange will be contested at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia (noon EDT, ABC).

Tennessee enters fall training camp with four quarterbacks on roster: Joey Aguilar, George MacIntyre, Jake Merklinger and Mason Phillips.
Aguilar transferred to the Vols from UCLA after spring practices. He never played for the Bruins. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound signal-caller played at Appalachian State from 2023-24 after transferring from Diablo Valley Community College.
Aguilar appeared in 25 games, including 24 starts, at Appalachian State. He completed 511-of-850 passing attempts for 6,760 yards, 56 touchdowns and 24 interceptions, while totaling 456 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 140 attempts. Aguilar recorded at least 200 passing yards in all 24 starts with the Mountaineers. He had four passing touchdowns in four different contests, and 22 touchdown passes were either to tie a game or give his team a lead.

Merklinger enters his second season with the Vols in 2025. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound redshirt freshman appeared in two games at Tennessee in 2024. He completed 6-of-9 passing attempts for 48 yards, and totaled 22 rushing yards on seven attempts, in contests against Chattanooga and Kent State.
MacIntyre arrived at Tennessee as a freshman early enrollee in January. He committed to the Vols on Jan. 22, 2024 from Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee. MacIntyre recorded 8,293 passing yards and 62 passing touchdowns in 36 games at Brentwood.

The 6-foot-6, 195-pound freshman is the grandson of former Vanderbilt and UT Martin head coach George MacIntryre and the nephew of Mississippi State analyst Mike MacIntyre.
Freshman Mason Phillips also enters his first season at Tennessee. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound quarterback is from Northview Academy in Kodak, Tennessee. He totaled 1,871 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns, 838 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns as a senior.
