Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have serious ambitions at this year's Australian Open.
The public is wondering who will be the dominant figure, but most give Jannik Sinner a better chance, as he was the Australian Open champion for the previous two years.
Alcaraz would complete his career Grand Slam if he wins the Australian Open, but that kind of pressure can be a barrier for him and it will be really interesting to see how much he can do.
The fans have already reacted to the draw in Melbourne, and it is important to point out that Alcaraz will not face Sinner or Djokovic until the final.
On the other hand, Jannik Sinner has a much more difficult task considering that he could face Ben Shelton in the quarter-finals,but also potentially face Joao Fonseca in the third round.
Greg Rusedski shared his views about this draw, believing that Alcaraz has an easier job.
“[Jannik] Sinner has got the harder of the two sections, no question about it.
[Novak] Djokovic, [Ben] Shelton, [Karen] Khachanov, [Joao] Fonseca, I think [Carlos] Alcaraz has the better route to the final.”- he said.
Either way, both are motivated to get to the end and lift the trophy.
We'll see who's hungrier for success.
What can we expect?
The Italian arrives as a two-time Australian Open champion and the tournament's top seed, with an impressive record of 22 wins and just four losses at Melbourne Park.
Alcaraz, on the other hand, is still trying to break through the "Australian wall". His best result at the first Grand Slam of the season remains the quarter-finals, with a record of 11 wins and four losses, but few doubt that he could make a breakthrough this year.
One thing is for sure, before the hunt for the most valuable January trophy begins, Sinner and Alcaraz will once again show that today's tennis operates on two levels: top sport and global spectacle, and in South Korea, both will get the perfect stage for both.
