Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is one of the hottest cycles in the country, and heading into his third season at the helm, coach Mike Elko and his newly formed coaching staff, including over five elevations, took full advantage of January’s junior weekends, as the NCAA dead period will continue to be in effect until next month.
Still, the dead period has not prevented recruiting insiders, including Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman, from providing key updates, led by this week’s news that 2027 five-star offensive lineman Kennedy Brown will reportedly choose between Texas A&M and Oregon, and will take his 13th visit to College Station, while the Ducks will make a serious push this summer.

Brown isn’t the only five-star prospect the Aggies are leading with, as blue-chip cornerback John Meredith is coming off his visit to Alabama, while insiders have agreed that the Crimson Tide and Texas A&M are the final two schools he’ll consider, but it’s clear that the Aggies have continued to push harder than any program.
Providing more clarity, AggieYell’s Jaxson Callaway reported that after Elko promoted Bryant Gross-Armiento as the new cornerbacks coach, Texas A&M is in an even better position to land Meredith’s commitment, who plans to make his final decision this spring.
“Sources close to Meredith’s camp have indicated that the promotion of Bryant Gross-Armiente strengthens the Aggies’ position. The relationship between Meredith and “BGA” has grown increasingly tight throughout the course of his recruitment, and that continuity appears to be a meaningful factor.”
Texas A&M’s 11-2 finish and first appearance in the College Football Playoff certainly plays a significant role in Meredith’s future decision, and knowing that the coach better known as “BGA” would be his coach places the Aggies slightly ahead of Alabama heading into next month.
