After finishing his freshman season for the Maroon and White, Texas A&M offensive lineman Jonte Newman is expected to enter the transfer portal, per a report from On3 Sports on Friday morning.
The 6-foot-4, 331-pounder from Cypress, Texas, was a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle. After seeing limited action for the Aggies in a depth-filled offensive line room, Newman will look for his next destination, according to Pete Nakos.

With his limited playing time in his first season with the Aggies, Newman qualifies for a redshirt and will have four more years of eligibility wherever he ends up.
Newman earned First Team All-District 16-6A honors as a sophomore, junior and senior at Bridgeland High School, as he aided his team to district titles each season with his impressive performances in the trenches. His dominance up front allowed the Bears to average nearly 225 rushing yards and 400 total yards per contest.
He committed to the Aggies in April of 2024, before eventually signing with head coach Mike Elko and company on Dec. 4. Newman received a plethora of offers and was ranked as the No. 25 interior offensive lineman and No. 50 overall player in Texas, according to 247Sports.

If Newman decides to enter the transfer portal and leave College Station, it would mark the 11th player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. The offensive line remains a necessity for Texas A&M to rebuild in preparation for the 2026 campaign.
