Over the next two weekends, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his coaching staff will host a wide range of 2027 prospects, headlined by several five-star prospects, including standout linebacker Cooper Witten. In the age of the transfer portal, recruiting elite prospects remains a major priority, especially for the Aggies, who hope several players in the 2025 and 2026 signing classes make an impact next season.
Looking to address every position group, Texas A&M’s future at quarterback is somewhat clear, but, again, in the age of the transfer portal, nothing is set in stone, and current starter Marcel Reed could easily depart after the 2026 season if he continues to improve.

After Miles O’Neill transferred to North Carolina, incoming freshman Helaman Casuga represents the future, but how fast he develops is still up in the air, while 2027 four-star QB commit Jayce Johnson remains firmly committed but will weigh his options this summer.
Elko and his staff are also hosting a handful of 2028 prospects, including five-star quarterback Donald Tabron II, who is currently positioned as Rivals’ No. 4-ranked signal caller among a highly talented 2028 cycle. After throwing for nearly 500 yards and seven touchdowns in the first two games of his 2025 sophomore season at Cass Tech, Tabron suffered a calf injury, which ended his second season at the helm.
However, his 2024 performance directly led to Texas A&M offering him back in October after his campus visit, as the then-freshman threw for 1,656 yards and 17 touchdowns, and is quickly becoming one of the more sought-after quarterbacks in the country. Standing at nearly 6’4″ and 180 pounds, Tabron still has plenty of room to grow heading into his 2026 junior season.
Visiting Texas A&M this weekend, Elko and new quarterbacks coach Joey Lynch are continuing to make progress with the Detroit, Michigan native.
